One thing that I have learned to do in my life is to always try and maintain that balance.
Here is a good check to see if the aspects in your life you deem important are balanced....
HERE IS WHAT YOU DO!
List 8 things that are of importance in you life. It doesn't matter what it is... it could be family, friends, romance, work, school, exercise, hygiene, hobbies....WHATEVER you want.
So what do you do with your list? Draw a circle on a piece of scratch paper with 8 slices. This is a representation of who you are.
Now, from a scale to 1 - 10, rate how much energy you have been giving yourself within these eight things. Let's say, for example, exercise is important in my life. I haven't been working out as much as I would like, so I would rate that aspect of my life a 2 or 3. Once you determined a number, write a line in that "slice" to symbolize that rating. A line closer in the center represents 0-5; further out from the circle towards the end is rated from 6-10.
You repeat the process until you finished the whole circle...
Now look at your results.... is it a complete circle or does it have a bump here and there?
This is where you reevaluate the things that are imbalanced in hopes it would improve the quality in your life.
Seriously, if you take the time to do it, it's really effective and it's definitely an eye opener.
This isn't always necessary for everyone but it helps to see on paper the things you could improve in your life.

My mom bailed on me a year ago and left for rehab for a month and I ran out of money and had to move out. Eventually I couldn't afford to get to school anymore and I was always working so I didn't have time for homework or anything. I wanna go back eventually and finish up at my own pace when I can afford it.
